Step by step instructions for strap modification.

Congratulations! You are about to put on the best caving pads in the universe!

1. Put your pads on with your caving clothes on. Adjust the straps tight to your leg except the top strap, above the knee, to allow for walking. Then run the excess strap through the keeper. There should be a .5" to 1" gap between the buckle and keeper. Be sure not to cut yourself and leave at least 1-2 inches (or more if preferred) of strap beyond the keeper to allow adjustment for thicker clothing then proceed to step two. In some cases no cutting is necessary.

2. After you cut the strap straight, being extremely careful not to burn yourself or anything around you (kids please have your parents assist) and be in a well ventilated area, burn the raw cut edge until the strap starts to melt and then extinguish. The idea is to melt the loose ends so they do not ravel in cave. Be sure on step 2 that you have enough excess for adjustment, as your pads have no warranty for any short strap mishap.

3. Your straps should look similar to the picture below. This will allow you a tight fit without the strap loosening while in use. Some minor adjustment may be needed after extended use.
